All the World’s a Stage

Amid disturbing news of some artificial intelligence increasingly threatening authentic human connection, we celebrate just a few of Shoalhaven's grassroots music, theatre and film activities and the humans who make them happen. Because people need people and performers need audiences.

Kids Cancer Fundraiser
In Australia, approximately 760 children aged 0-14 are diagnosed with cancer each year. While survival rates have improved significantly, cancer remains the leading cause of disease-related death in children. About three children per week die from cancer, and two-thirds of survivors experience long-term health issues. Please join Shoalhaven Community Choir in September, child cancer awareness month, to raise funds to find cures and help children in need.
A Facebook Group Worth Joining
Winter is almost over so it's time to get out of those Ugg boots, leave the songwriting bots behind and get your butt back into live music. Making that easy is a local Facebook group "Music Events around the Shoalhaven" that posts gig guides and event promos for as many live music acts across the region that they can find. Check out some of the best upcoming events you need to get on your calendar - starting today!

Vision and Heart
As the curtain rose on the joyous opening night of The Appleton Ladies' Potato Race, our local theatre community also mourned the death one of its most active and adored members, Debbi Szota. A performer, director and mentor, Debbi's decades of influence on local culture through the community theatre group, Nowra Players, is impossible to measure. All respect and condolences to Debbi's family.
"Beyond the spotlight, Debbi gave tirelessly of her time and energy, serving as Drama Class Coordinator, committee member, secretary, president, and a constant champion for the Players. Her dedication, creativity, and generosity shaped our theatre into what it is today."
