Have you heard the buzz? Right here in the Shoalhaven lies Youth Amplified, our very own community radio station, partnered with Triple U FM. Managed and presented entirely by a crew of young people aged 15-24, Youth Amplified gives local voices a platform to express themselves.

"Community media is an incredibly powerful and influential tool that I think young people should utilise," said Max Bolden, Triple U station manager and presenter.

Max began at Triple U in 2018 and was appointed Station Manager at age 22.

"I'm 24 now... I feel very privileged to have such an esteemed position at my age!"

In this era of social media and streaming, it is increasingly hard for radio stations to thrive as new music and personalised playlists are constantly churned out on platforms such as Spotify. Youth Amplified aims not to compete with streaming services, but rather to nurture, share and celebrate the voices of young people.

"I am part of the group of young people who get most of their media from social media and streaming," Max said.

"But I strongly believe community media provides an outlet for young people to express themselves. It promotes us as a station that can provide young people with an outlet for their creativity."

The young presenters of Youth Amplified are passionate about radio, interested in topical content and have a broad music taste to appeal to listeners. The program airs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-5 pm, each day featuring a young duo presenting their show of tunes and a chat.
